Art Education Portfolio
8th Grade:
Students are growing more mature in 8th grade and can comprehend heavier theories.
With 8th grades, we explore Cubism all the way to modern Graffiti.
Here are a few subjects we cover:


Pop Art


Students critique Marilyn Monroe Diptych with a primary source articles of Monroe's death.
Students use everyday, popular, cultural items to inspire their own personal art work.
Graffiti
Students are introduced to Graffiti with an argument. Is Graffiti Art or NOT? Students watch videos of Bansky, Haring, and SCAPE.
Student learn how to create basic letters, and they use these skills to create their own personal art.



Surrealism
Students look into the subconscious mind to create a surreal, dream-like, collage

Masks
Students take inspiration on 1 of the 3 previous art movement lessons: Pop Art, Cubism, or Surrealism. Students build own mask with paper mache.
