ART CLUB at HMS
Art Club is a T.A.B. classroom setting. T.A.B stands for Teaching for Artistic Behavior. The teacher will not give assignments or forced projects. Instead the teacher will teach and introduce new techniques and ideas for students to create independently. Art Club seeks to help expand upon the interests in visual arts in a relaxed social setting, while focusing talents towards choice-based independent assignments that explore individuality and independence of thought, as well as, projects that benefit the entire school community. In addition to independent projects, students will sometimes work together as a group to create art. Also, students will be encouraged to enter various art contests. The Art Club is open for students who are motivated in learning more about art, exploring one’s self, and collaborating with other peers who have the same interests. One does not have to be an “artist” to be in this club. A choice-based and open studio provides time to explore and experiment with the wide variety of art materials. There is always the opportunity for Art Club participants to work on new independent or group projects.
